A LITERARY JOURNAL

FOR OUTSIDERS

Rabbitbrush.org is a place based, person-focused digital literary arts journal catering to outsiders with a connection to rural life in the contiguous Western United States. Take heart if you are not from the West, we specifically seek work by rural artists about rural places and we encourage anyone writing from that experience to submit.

Outsiders, in the art world, have traditionally meant people without academic training. However, we understand there are many circumstances that push people to the "outside of" the mainstream lived experience, regardless of education level. In that vein, we want to publish people living in rural areas, currently experiencing poverty, houselessness, and or who grew up poor; people living with disabilities of any kind; people with mental health challenges; our elders; people in the queer community; people in recovery; communities of color and youth. This is not an exhaustive list. We encourage you to tell us your story of life on the "outside."
